Notes from Home: A Concert to Benefit Music Education for Children in the Palestinian Refugee Camps of Lebanon
WHO: Aswat Ensemble and World Harmony Chorus
WHAT: A concert featuring songs from around the world focusing primarily on themes related to home, childhood, and love.
WHEN: June 23, 2018 @ 7:00 p.m
WHERE: Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California - 1433 Madison Street, Oakland, CA 94612
This all-volunteer concert featuring over 50 performers has a two-fold mission:
1) to raise funds for a music education program, including the purchase of musical instruments, for youth living in the Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon, and
2) to raise awareness of the plight of refugees all over the globe and in particular Palestinian refugees, now in their 70th year of displacement.
We have partnered with LEAP, an all-volunteer organization providing education in the Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon, to meet our goal of supplying refugee youth with music education.
Music is a universal and powerful tool to heal and empower, especially for refugee youth who are facing difficult and often insurmountable obstacles. Please join us in empowering refugee youth through music!
If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute, please donate to our GoFundMe campaign at https://www.gofundme.com/music-education-4-palestinian-youth
